The government should INCREASE gas taxes by 50 cents a gallon and invest the money in high quality transit.
What the state and federal authorities could do is eliminate their taxes on gasoline to reduce the overinflated price of gas.
Oil companies would stop producing gas. If any supplier of any product cannot produce it for a profit, they wouldn’t do it. Price controls would result in massive shortages of gasoline.
