Will Google’s new search suggestion hurt competition?

I am even more concerned now that they have opted in one-click hypertext searching within the toolbar. For example: enter the keyword weather from the google homepage and the only link you can click on to go directly to the page is the weather channel’s “weather.com”.

Another person in a blog said this:
For example, let’s say you operate a site that ranks #1 on Google for “Dresses in NYC” and your competitors ranks #1 for “Dresses in New York City.” Well, if people are allowed to type in the search terms as they prefer, then a fair distribution would be sent to you and your competition. However, what if a person who would normally type in “Dresses in NYC” is typing this “Dresses in N…” and Google suggests “Dresses in New York City”? Then your competitor will get all the traffic every time. I think “I’m feeling lucky” is unfair two, as only the #1 ranked company comes up every time for the search term rather than a fair distribution among the top three websites.

Very concerning if you ask me.

How can I improve my site ranking on Google/etc? (SEO)?

I am trying to get my friends anime site listed higher in the Google/Yahoo/etc results for search phrases relating to my site. The site is gurrenlagannepisodes.com, yet searching for “Gurren Lagann Episodes” doesn’t list it until like page 9.

We’ve already done a lot of things, including:
-The site contains plenty of relevant content
-It has relevant metatags, keywords, title, etc
-URLs are search engine friendly
-We have a sitemap
-We have a robots.txt
-We post the site on other sites (linkbacks)

how much search engine ranking do i lose for my web sites being down 2 days?

my sites are important, especially my Dad’s as he is now 77 and in 2 years he is very good, he knew ‘squat’ before,
so, “you CAN teach an old dog new tricks” [se puede ensenar un perro viejo nuevas trucos!] he is my best student

his real estate site and subsequently his e mail which is configured thru his OE and the mail server was down, the owner of my servers, in Sweden gave a lame answer, (ummmmm/ fish bait?)

seems senor pescado is still #1 in Google for ‘pescado’ and ‘mariscos’ after 2 days down, but this made Mikey not happy, so any thoughts on being affected the page rank?

Any agents have Feedback on Point2 Websites?

I use Point2 as a tool to recruit agents..what an awesome idea to be able to give away fully customizable websites for FREE to all my agents. We recently interviewed with a SEO specialist and he said we couldn’t get ranking with a Point2 site..I raised my hand and said “Excuse me but I have gotten my page ranking to number 4 on Google with my Point2 website” and he said it was all luck. It was a lot of work..not luck. I think he was trying to sell his services. I’m wondering what your feedback is with your Point2 sites? Thanks!
Point2 allows us our own access to meta Tags, Keywords, Titles, Headers, Keyword phrases, etc. as well! And they even have tutorials on SEO!

Improve site ranking on yahoo and google?

Ok. a friend’s site has been on for about 6 mo’s already. we’ve been participating in 2 kinds of LE programs, plus individual link exchange. Submitted it to yahoo dir. and a number of other directories. Constantly have submitted urls to the yahoo, google, msn and other SE’s.
Submitted to DMOZ (but hasn’t been accepted so far, and no response)
Submitted urls to over 100 SE’s, webcrawler, jadye, you name it.

Participated in microsoft small business program. The one that’s $40 a year. Submitted to Microsoft small buisness directory.

Verified page tags. titles, keywords, descriptions. The pages have fairly good keyword density. (for the most part are properly coded).

For some specific keywords, the site is still not visible until like the 7th page. on the 4th page in yahoo search the directory listing is visible.

The Q is that a newer site has bumped into like the 4th place. How do i move up the ranking?

Blacklisted by Google….How do I tell?

I have a website about brazil “www.destinationsinbrazil.com” but i do not know if I was black listed or if my website pages have been taken off of Googles index.

For example, usually the Keyword “Belo Horizonte Resort” would populate as #2 for the url www.destinationsinbrazil.com/Belo_horizonte.html but of late none of my keywords are ranking at their respective landing page but rather the ranking has dropped 100 positions or so and shows that the landing page is the main page of the website.

Can some one tell me if this is a sign of being blacklist’s by Google?
I thought when google blacklists a website not even the main page would show up on a Search…
I meant that at 1 time i was ranked #2 for the keyword and it dropped to #100 while pointing to a different landing page. which is why I was asking if anyone knows of the pages within the website (besides the main page) being black listed. Correct that search term shows up # 14 on Yahoo search but I was referring to Google Search

When will Yahoo and Google list my sites in their main search index?

1.) My x5 sites all link to each other (or have links to go to each other)
2.) I had all my sites authenticated by Yahoo with Feeds (i.e. Site Explorer)
3.) I setup all my pages on a sitemap with Google (feeds included)
4.) I am allowing robots, spiders and crawlers into my sites via meta tags and a robots.txt file
5.) and I setup my keywords similar to other high ranking search engines

WHEN WILL YAHOO & GOOGLE LIST MY SITES?
HOW LONG DOES THIS TAKE?
WHEN DO THEY REFRESH OR UPDATE THEIR INDEX DATABASE?
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME THE TIMEFRAME WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN?

It’s been about one month now and I’m still waiting.
Anyone have any thoughts?
